The prior versions had this strange intense curve in the toe portion( perhaps that was designed to repel water during steps?) compared to an older model that is no longer available. The toe box is roomy too and the waterproof feature is great for both PNW rainy days and wet days here in the Midwest. My only criticism would be they are quite flat/smooth on the bottom so watch out for ice.

It rained the entire time I was in Italy and these held up, and kept me from slipping and sliding everywhere. Let me start off by saying I am a true 6. 5, never a 6 and very super rarely a 7. I used their size chart and measuring guide and found that I fell between the 6. 5/7 so I decided to size up and I 'm glad I did. I have just enough room around my toe in the box, and my heel has just enough space to move until they really get soft and cozy. I also have bunionettes, and sizing up with a regular width is definitely giving them some room. They are very comfortable on my feet. I purchased the black, and I am very pleased with how beautiful these boots are. Much prettier in person than the picture. I decided to buy a new pair of winter boots since my previous pair( from a different brand) kept giving me blisters. One of my professors used to be a Timberland exec and he always raved about the quality of the shoes, so I decided to try them out. I ordered 2 different styles of winter boots, each in 2 sizes. I did n't love the roll- top boots, so those promptly got returned. I ended up keeping the size 9 of the 6 '' waterproof-- the boots had a clean look and the leather is well sewn and finished, I 've worn them to work and they do n't look out of place with my button- up shirt and slacks. The boots feel a little heavy while wearing them, but honestly I prefer that since they feel more durable and rugged. I 've since worn the boots both with and without thick winter socks and had no problems. They were comfortable from Day 1 and have n't given me blisters. My biggest gripe is that the shoelaces are too short- even when I lace the boots as tightly as possible, I am left with maybe 3- 4 '' of lace to tie with. The 6 '' roll- top boots I returned had longer laces than these despite having a similar style, so this was a disappointment.

The Contour casual has the same benefit of the excellent gripping sole( without spikes) and also the ability to go car to pro shop( not wearing out golf cleats). The oil resistant does have a more open tread pattern so they wo n't collect the oil and dirt and cake up with it. However, these are not what I would call comfortable. [ Great boots. I purchased different pair of Timberlands from another vendor and an eyelet broke. I called Their warranty department and had a full refund within 3 hrs. No hassle turned around and ordered replacement off their website. Great product and excellent customer service.

Took 2 weeks to break them in. But as far as comfort the BEST when it comes to comfort I can wear these boots all day and not be tired. A lil heavy but worth knowing your feet are protected. ILL BUY THESE AGAIN. IM GOING TO TRY THEIR COMPOSITE BOOT NOW SINCE GOING WHERE IT SNOWS.
