I absolutely adore the Rain Defender exterior fabric. Will Rain Defender keep me dry in a cloud burst rain storm? Nope! However I am often required to work outside when it is heavily misting, snowing and sleeting. I have a number of shirts and jackets with a sherpa lining. Layering under the sherpa provides excellent warmth. The last day I wore this sweatshirt it was windy, rainy and around 35 degrees. I stayed warm and dry. Excellent purchase. I am very pleased.

This jacket is more than I could have hoped for. I operate a snowplow at a ski resort at night during storms clearing parking lots. When I get out of the tractor into what is frequently a howling blizzard, this keeps me warm, sealed and protected. It's loose enough that I can wear layers underneath if it's really cold and the whole thing is lined with nylon so there is no binding at all. The hood and zipper come up to just the right place on my chin to be functional without hindering. And when it's wet snow or rain, it runs right off and I stay dry. Amazingly comfortable. There is nothing about this jacket that I do n't like. Bravo Carhartt!

If you ’ re an outdoor enthusiast where you ’ ll be out for an extended time in- 0 temps, I ’ d look for a different jacket. This one is stylish and plenty warm for short times out in mild winter weather. I normally wear a large in clothing but typically size up in coats so I bought an XL. This jacket is an addition to the three other various Carhartts that I have hanging in my coat closet. I was needing something on the lighter side this time for doing some e- bike trail riding around metro Detroit and also something to match the camo paint scheme on my fat tire. This jacket's Moss color turned out being about as close to U. S. Army `` mean green '' as you could hope to get and I also really like the high zip neck and velcro adjustable sleeves. The fit was perfect too, as always. Since I have the sincere `` need for speed '', I was also duly impressed with how warm it was against the Spring windchill temps. I paired this jacket up also with some Carhartt fingerless gloves which is another story but the combo has worked out exceedingly well for riding. After all the accolades though, what stands out the most about this brand to me is that it was born in the City of Detroit for the tough, honest, hardworking man and wearing it, to quote Doc Holiday, kind of reminds me of me.

Excellent for winter to cut the wind and retain heat. Had multiple deer come within 30 yds and jacket noise did not alert them. Used as a top layer with layering( and heated vest, socks, and gloves all on lowest setting) during a 12( F) degree morning, never got cold and didn ’ t feel the wind. It does not have pockets, which helps with retaining heat and one less thing to leak down the road, but I use a small pack to carry in. I do suggest breaking it in a bit. [ When the weather changed for our Portugal trip I needed a rain jacket fast! This jacket exceeded my expectations. It POURED rain on us and i stayed completely dry! The hood and extended visor prevented all rain from getting to my face and hair. I have waist length, super curly, thick hair and this hood kept it all in and dry! the length was perfect and prevented my lower body from getting wet. I sized up from a XL to a 2XL as I wanted room to layer and wear sweaters or sweatshirts underneath. The deep pockets were perfect for extra travel items! I got a whole water bottle inside one! The most important part is it dried of super fast and was ready for the next day of rain! It is packable and folds down to a super small size! I highly recommend this jacket. If it can keep me dry during a relentless, 7 day, Portugal downpour, it will keep you dry most anywhere! BUY IT!

I was wearing this jacket when I had a horse riding accident. When I tell you I absolutely flew off the horse and slammed into the gravel- this jacket should have ripped immediately. Instead it actually ended up protecting my body from getting any cuts. I threw the jacket in the wash and it came out seamless as if nothing had happened to it. As a result I now have this jacket in several colors. Moral of the story is- the quality of this jacket is INSANE, and also don ’ t ride horses ha ha ha.

[ I have worn this style Keen shoe for about five years. I work in a super busy open kitchen restaurant. I do purchase an insole from a local shoe store for my plantar fasciitis which I have to use in all my lace up shoes. I have not found another shoe that fils my foot as well as this one for work and would recommend it to anyone who does similar work. I run around a lot with my job and turn many blind corners. So the lace up style of the shoe is better than kitchen rubber clogs. Also I work in a super humid environment on cement floors. So the waterproofing exterior and no slip sole is essential. Yes, this jacket is lightweight, but that ’s what I needed! I bought it to stuff into my bike bag. It can be stuffed into the smallest space, yet pops out wrinkle free. It ’s great as a windbreaker, and as layered clothing. It has no hand pockets, but there is a zippered pocket in the chest. I ’ m normally a large, but in this jacket the XL fits best.

It's in my backpack for every hike, and my carryon whenever I travel. I had the chance to try this on in store and noticed it runs small. I 'm usually a size s/m and ended up purchasing and xs. I wore this raincoat with a Cotopaxi Fuego puffer jacket, light crew neck, and base layer underneath and still zipped it up fine, so consider sizing down.
