Only lasts about a year then the cloth part of zipper goes bad. I ’ ve returned daylite many times. While I appreciate the all might guarantee, it ’s still a hassle to continue this process. Great for the price. I 'm a hydration pack fanatic because I use them several times a week. This one is quite good. The good: Really well made and durable materials. It is a really versatile hydration pack that can be used for hiking, cycling, etc. It has some internal pockets in the main compartment that really distributes your stuff and the weight well and keeps the pack well balanced. The back pads are nice and plush. The straps are stout. The external stuff pockets on the side/front are very useful. I like how the waist straps tuck away if you are not using them. Trekking pole straps/compression straps are nice. The pack is really streamlined, fits snug against the body, and is very stable for activity. The stuff that can be improved: The hydration bladder and bite valve are not the best, but they do function decent and for the price it is not a big deal. It would be nice to have some sort of velcro on the large external stuff pocket just to secure your stuff a little.

[ I got the Daylite Plus to act as a compliment to my Farpoint 40 for travel. I 'm really pleased with how it can attach on the Farpoint despite not being the Farpoint- specific daypack, because this gives me a daypack with a bit more space. The main compartment holds a surprising amount of stuff for its size, and the bag is really comfortable to wear and carry. It worked really well being carried through the airport and also serving as a daybag for both around the city and campground camping. [ This sling is the raddest for travel. I ’ m a wilderness guide and I have to pack in all carry ons so the more I can pack onto a flight, the better. My travel hack is to wear this under my jacket but sling it to the side opposite the flight attendant when boarding and it works every time so I can have a backpack and duffel. These day slings look cute when I go out too so I can pack my notebook, water bottle, headphones, hat, makeup bag and scarf into it, literally everything. As I do with all my backpacks, I put a large S- biner on it, so I can hang it, it even hooks over 40 cm thick stall doors so I do n't have to set my pack down. Firstly, this bag has a small plastic internal frame to provide structure. The frame is lightweight, yet sturdy enough for a fully packed bag. Because of the frame's assistance with weight distribution, everything felt lighter on my back. This bag also has many different pockets and straps for varied packing strategies. The straps on the bottom of the bag are perfect for a sleeping bag, ground mat, or small tent. Underneath those straps is a small pocket that holds an included rain cover to keep your bag totally dry during heavy rain. There is also a pocket on top of the bag for any small items you may need to access on the go, without opening or unpacking the rest of the bag. Finally, there is a pocket for a hydration bladder, so you can stay hydrated as you move. Some other useful features are the emergency whistle on the chest strap, the included strap management bungees( so those leftover strap ends after adjustment are n't hanging everywhere), and the water bottle pockets on the sides. The straps are more prone to breaking and the seams have started tearing pretty early in the life of their backpack. This being said, my older model has been so great! It's gone through years of hauling notebooks, folders, textbooks, water bottles, and clothes for practice after school. One of the shoulder straps did begin to tear last year( 2024) slightly but a quick stitch- job has got it back to working order. I would definitely buy a North Face backpack again!

I love how the laptop sleeve has a false bottom so when you place the laptop in the backpack it does n't accidentally knock the surface the backpack may be resting on. I have this as a backpack and I love it. I am still in high school and I honestly could n't want a better bag. In my opinion it is a little small for all the stuff I had but not too bad. I love the look of it, the skinny cute bag is so nice and i love the light blue on gray. The side pockets are a bit small for all water bottles but most of the time i do n't have a hard time pushing my bottles in. The wire on the side though makes it hard sometimes but u just have to make sure you press down and not out.

This little pack has been the perfect travel companion. I like to 'carry on' travel as often as possible- even a two week long trip to the UK and Ireland. As I can never truly get away from work my second bag has to be my computer bag holding a substantial amount of work related items. As such its hard to repurpose as a day pack. For me this leaves out the option of a day pack once on the ground. Enter the In and Out. It truly packs down small and takes up little room in my computer bag and once at my destination becomes an extremely effective day pack for touring about, shopping, hiking and going to the beach. It also worked great as an on- slope pack when on a ski trip last winter. This has been a 'go- to' standard for my traveling kit. Highly recommended.

My travel hack is to wear this under my jacket but sling it to the side opposite the flight attendant when boarding and it works every time so I can have a backpack and duffel. [ The new updated Osprey Rook 65 Performs outstanding. It caries the load very well. While I used it on a winter day hike with only 25 lbs in it I feel it will comfortably carry about 35- 40 lbs. I adore this pack. My mom bought the Ariel 85L for me a few years ago( 2021) for my first guiding job, and it has been my companion ever since. The pockets make it easy for me to stay organized and access a variety of gear while on the trail, and the brain turns into a little day pack. The only negative on the day pack feature is that the straps secure with plastic toggles through loops rather than buckles, so they come out when you are n't wearing the pack. This pack is super durable. I have sat on it, accidently thrown it in a beaver pond, checked it at the airport, and much more, and it has n't ripped or shown much wear yet( knock on wood of course). The water bottle pockets have a holster feature, so you can access your bottles without help and fit notebooks, maps, or fuel bottles in the top part of the pocket. I am a notorious over packer, and I can always fit everything I need and still hike comfortably with this pack. If you like ultra light this might not be your pack, but if you want to hike for a long time while staying organized and comfortable this is a great pack.

[ The Ariel Plus 85 backpack was a game changer for me. I 'm not a `` professional '' backpacker, so packing everything but the `` kitchen sink '' was a desire. Although I wound up not packing that too, I did manage to get everything I needed, and more, into this pack for a 3 night solo trip. An ultralight tent and a 4. 7 '' high sleeping pad were carried on the outside of the pack, while my mummy- style sleeping bag was in the sleeping bag compartment at the bottom of the bag. Other necessary items took up the rest of the space, with room to spare. Not only was there plenty of room in this bag, but it was incredibly comfortable. I 'm humpbacked, so not many backpacks are comfortable for me. With the adjustable torso feature, I was able to get a truly dialed- in fit and was able to hike without discomfort.

Osprey really outdid themselves with this one, thinking of every little detail for organization and packing this pack. Additionally, the suspension is great and carrying over 40% of my body weight, I felt the weight, but not the pack! I like my comfort and I do not like to be cold and I carry food for my dogs, while they carry the water, therefore, I need all of this space. The only detail that osprey does on all of their packs is that sleeping bag divider is not fully removable, just `` '' disconnect- able '' '' so you still have to carry the divider around with you adding weight and it does get in my way. I have never used it since it prevents me from stuffing every solitary nook and cranny of the bag. Also, when the bag is stuffed, I have never been able to successfully open and then re- close the bottom zipper anyway. Same with the side zippers Osprey has on most of its packs. HOWEVER, they surely did get it right with the front zippers on this pack! You can open the entire front and then re- close it even when fully stuffed! Wonderful!!! Also, the side pockets, unlike other Osprey models, really can be used and things added and taken out even when the pack is fully stuffed. I love the front organization pockets and keep things that I need handy like GPS and maps, etc in one and repellent and netting, or if it is a cold, snowy backpack, gloves and hat, in the other.

This is a great backpack for the price. I am giving it 5 stars because it's everything you would want and need in a pack. The middle zipper opening is an amazing feature that allows you to get into your items without having to pull everything out from the top like a conventional pack. One downside are the hip straps. I feel they could be slightly larger for the size of pack, I had some discomfort but nothing terribly bad, likely had more to do with me being out of shape as well. I recommended this to a buddy and he has one and uses it quite often like myself.

I got this backpack to prepare for my 3 month trip in the Caribbean and it ’s has been so helpful to say the least. I have an overpacking problem but all of the different compartments and pockets made it so I could fit everything I needed. The support on the backside of it helps so much with my back pain and doesn ’ t make me feel exhausted at the end of a busy travel day. Furthermore, the top bit comes off as a smaller backpack which was perfect for day trips. The only thing i would change would be the smaller buckles that attach the front pocket to the bag, they were a little weak. However, I don ’ t have any worry they will come undone when I check it at the airport. Overall, this bag has been a HUGE help!! It definitely has made my traveling much easier.

[ The 65L Ampex Hiking Backpack as a whole is lightweight, comfortable, and breathable. Overall, it has plenty of smaller exterior pockets that are accessible within an arms reach when needed. The waist belt pockets are a pleasant feature that I ’ ve never experienced on a hiking ruck before, which add to the accessibility of its pockets given that the pack doesn ’ t need to be removed to reach them. The padded shoulder straps are comfortable and have plenty of lashing points which are great for attaching lights or other tools. The waist belt serves well to distribute weight and secure the pack, and the pack seemed to be highly adjustable but I didn ’ t need to play with it much. The top of the pack has a quick access pouch for essentials that serves well to store smaller items without having to access the main compartment. The main compartment has plenty of space being a larger sized ruck, and has one divider that appears removable towards the bottom if it was to be needed. The top compartment of the pack is removable as advertised and can be used on its own, however it leaves the ruck feeling somewhat naked with just an exposed drawstring closure underneath. The removed “ pack ” achieved by taking it off would not serve well for a day pack as the straps just buckle into themselves to form shoulder straps. This in and of itself feels like an unnecessary feature. The main compartment has access by way of the drawstring at the top, or zippers located on the front which are great for horizontal access without unpacking the entire ruck to access deeper items. At the bottom of the pack there is an included rainfly that tucks away nicely in its own pocket. There are lashing points located on the bottom of the pack that held a sleeping mat for me quite nicely. The wire/ mesh frame that the pack sits on is breathable, comfortable, and distributes weight well when carrying lighter loads. One glaring issue that I had was the manufacturers recommended load limit of 42 pounds. For such a large capacity pack, you would think that it would not be an issue. However, any experienced camper or hiker knows that when carrying a sustainment load or anything other than a days worth of supplies, that weight will be eaten up very quickly. While this pack has many of the amenities and features of a more expensive ruck, I would recommend a sturdier pack and frame for more extended trips, hikes, or hunts. All in all, the pack is ideal for day trips or light camping. If the buyer doesn ’ t foresee themselves approaching or exceeding the weight limit, it is a very light and comfortable ruck that was clearly designed with accessibility in mind at a competitive price.

This daypack is a well- rounded minimal travel daypack. One large compartment that is expandable. Folds down flat so it can be packed. Comes with a couple of well placed straps for compression and stability( sternum strap). The bottom is made of a more durable material. It's not too hard to pack and make this backpack stand on its own. Looks great too! Small con: bottle side pockets can be hard to use if pack is full. Maybe stretchy side pockets would work better. Would suggest Fjallraven team explore two- tone color options in the future.

[ My Atmos AG 65 was a replacent for my 10 year old Atmos backpack. After 10 years the old pack started `` delaminating '', I guess it is called, when the coating inside starts to peel. I was happily surprised when Osprey replaced the pack under their all mighty guarantee. I really liked my old Atmos for the ventilation on the back and for the pockets. I am finding I like the Atmos AG even more. It fits me better and carries very well for me. It is not nearly as light as my Kakwa, but the convenience of the pockets, the airflow for my back, and just the general feel of the weighted pack will keep it relevant and useful for many years to come. I expect this pack will not spend much time hanging in the closet.

Purchased: Aug 2024 Uses: 15+ day hikes with scrambling in the eastern Sierra General: I purchased the Sportlite 30 to replace my aging, 11 year old, Deuter Speedlite 30. My preference is a balance of lightweight, volume, and comfort, and I had not seen anything comparable to my Speedlite until I saw the Osprey. Having used it for a few months, I feel I can give a run down of my impressions. Fit: I have a 16 ” torso and purchased the small which fits very well. It carries much better than my Speedlite as it stays in place on my back better and there is less play when scrambling. What I like: Stretch side panels keep items secure, as does the front stretch compression pocket. I am very pleased Osprey added 2 hip pockets and I like that one of them is a stretch mesh pocket. I ’ ve always had zippered pockets in the past, and the stretch mesh secures a snack and allows for an easier retrieval than fighting with a zipper. I wasn ’ t sure I was going to like the direct access hydration sleeve, but it has worked well. Although the shoulder straps seem thin, they are comfortable and I ’ ve had no issues with them. What could be better: The 2 stretch loops on the shoulder straps are too high. I have a carabiner attached to the lower loop and it sits on top of my shoulder and sticks out rather than hanging down. I ’ d really like to see these moved lower. The side stretch mess pockets are about an inch to high. It is very difficult to reach around to grab something, e. g., bottle of liquid fuel/electrolytes, and put it back. The front compression pocket is also a bit too high. I basically have to unclip the compression straps to grab something, e. g., gloves, hat, from the pocket. But, on the other hand, if the pocket were not as high, it might not hold as much. I 'm not sold yet on the trekking pole loops. They seem small cumbersome. When I 've had to store my poles, I stuff them in a side pocket and secure them with the top compression straps. Lastly, I prefer my key clip to be in the external pocket of the top lid. At the end of a hike, when I ’ m tired and just want to get in my car, with the clip in the external pocket, all I have to do is unzip+ unclip. The workflow to get to one ’s keys in the under the lid pocket design requires one to undo 2 compression straps( 2 clicks)+ flip the lid+ unzip the pocket+ unclip. That ’s 5 steps vs 2. Despite the above limitations, I really do like this pack, especially how it carries. It meets my requirements for being light, having a 30L volume, and being comfortable. I ’ m not sure of the durability yet.. the mesh panel on the back has already ripped.

My torso is 17 '' so I purchased the S/M size expecting it to be on the shortest setting. I found I needed to have it just under the longest setting to fit me correctly with the middle of the hip belt on my iliac crest. I think you might be able to squeeze into this pack if your torso is 19 '' maximum. Easily the most comfortable pack I have tried on, very happy with my purchase.

[ Just returned from the BWCA with my Aether 65. This is a nice pack that worked well for a 4 day self supported journey deep in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota. Our trip included 5 portages with 3 having quite a bit of undulation. The pack was weighed down with 44lbs of gear and was comfortable( as much as 44lbs of gear can be, definitely dropping some weight on the next trip). I liked it because I typically start trips like this fresh and strong and have my pack set up to that posture with quick( on the fly) adjustments being made as I ’ m flagging from hiking and paddling for hours. Nice pack that is well thought out with all the features you need and none that are useless. Both of my sons were wearing the same pack with zero complaints. Nice product that ’s worth the investment.

I really love this pack. It's the second one I 've used as I 've only been backpacking for about 2 years. It is the perfect size to accommodate all of the things I need, but it's not so large that I over- pack. I 've used it on weekend trips on the PCT, a 5- day trip in the Sierras and on a 4- day Rim- to- Rim Grand Canyon hike. I could fit a small Bear Cannister in the pack and my tent was on the outside of the pack for the 5- day trip. I am more of a minimalist when it comes to what I put in my pack, so some people might need a larger pack for longer hikes. Sometimes the chest strap feels too high, so I would like a lower option for that, but I am 5' 4 '' '', so that might not be a problem for someone who is taller. I 've used the bladder reservoir as well and it works great. I have n't used it in the rain yet, but I do n't forsee any problems. When the pack is heavier( 30 lbs), I do feel soreness on my hips, but when I can keep it lighter( last trip 24 lbs) I have no soreness from using this pack. I also like that there are n't a lot of compartments so I 'm only looking in a few places if I do n't remember where I put something.

This is a great pack for both car and airline travel. I pack smart with packing compressors packing cubes but I wouldn ’ t say I pack light and I had plenty of space. The waist belt allows me to comfortably carry this pack through the airport. The straps stow easily and it fits in the overhead bin.

The straps can be hidden with a zippable cover that is stowed away in a pocket at the bottom of the pack as well. Love this bag! It is how much room it has. There is several pockets in the bag which allows to store your things without getting stuffed for damaged. It's made with great quality material. My son also has a borealis bag for school and it's lasted him two years without wear and tear.

I have this as a backpack and I love it. I am still in high school and I honestly could n't want a better bag. In my opinion it is a little small for all the stuff I had but not too bad. I love the look of it, the skinny cute bag is so nice and i love the light blue on gray. The side pockets are a bit small for all water bottles but most of the time i do n't have a hard time pushing my bottles in. The wire on the side though makes it hard sometimes but u just have to make sure you press down and not out.

My son has recently outgrown his Jet18, after many many years of use and adventures. He is a tiny 11 year old, who is too tall for the Jet18, but too small for an XS adult pack. He has a 50l youth overnight pack that we love and the 38 is very similar! Like the 50l, I love that this pack is also adjustable and grows with the kid, allowing several years of use. He is currently on the middle setting( of 3 settings.) It has the top “ brain/snack pack ” that he likes and the inside is roomy enough for his 10 essentials, plus more. Osprey has changed the side pouches to have a fabric base, opposed to their previous mesh side pockets that would eventually wear out. I do wish Osprey made an adjustable back pack like this in a smaller liter. 38 liter is huge for a younger child as a daypack. He needs more than 18l( because his clothes are getting bigger and take up more space) but way less than 38l. I only have a 30l as an adult leader of the group.

Knowing how well that pack worked out, we decided to get another one for one of our other children, one of the improvement of this version over the previous version is a hit belt pocket to put snacks into for easy accessibility while hiking.
