As I do with all my backpacks, I put a large S- biner on it, so I can hang it, it even hooks over 40 cm thick stall doors so I do n't have to set my pack down. We absolutely love this bag as our personal item( as long as it's not overstuffed, it fits easily under the seat) to bring our toddler's plane snacks, toys, tablet, and other travel essentials along with a smattering of items we want to keep on us instead of checking through. The water bottle holders are fantastic and fit a regular nalgene perfectly. For trips without the toddler, it makes a fantastic one- bag option for light travel. I have this as a backpack and I love it. I am still in high school and I honestly could n't want a better bag. In my opinion it is a little small for all the stuff I had but not too bad. I love the look of it, the skinny cute bag is so nice and i love the light blue on gray. The side pockets are a bit small for all water bottles but most of the time i do n't have a hard time pushing my bottles in. It can be easily folded back up to fit inside. There are sturdy metal rods, with a heavy duty mesh piece on the back. It will definitely hold up when hiking. The bag is adequately sized for all hikes and most short camping trips. Despite its relatively small size, it boasts a number of impressive features. Firstly, this bag has a small plastic internal frame to provide structure. The frame is lightweight, yet sturdy enough for a fully packed bag. Because of the frame's assistance with weight distribution, everything felt lighter on my back. This bag also has many different pockets and straps for varied packing strategies. The straps on the bottom of the bag are perfect for a sleeping bag, ground mat, or small tent. Underneath those straps is a small pocket that holds an included rain cover to keep your bag totally dry during heavy rain. There is also a pocket on top of the bag for any small items you may need to access on the go, without opening or unpacking the rest of the bag. Finally, there is a pocket for a hydration bladder, so you can stay hydrated as you move. Some other useful features are the emergency whistle on the chest strap, the included strap management bungees( so those leftover strap ends after adjustment are n't hanging everywhere), and the water bottle pockets on the sides. Overall, I would give this product a 5/5. Met or exceeded all of my expectations. I would highly recommend this bag to anybody who is a frequent camper or hiker.

This is my third borealis I 've had a couple years currently I use this one I have for work and it's an awesome day pack. It's blue. I love the material and it gets me to point a to point B. I love the leather bottom adjustable straps and the side cupholders seems very durable compared to the previous models. As far as it is standing up that's a game changer for me but the way you fix it is stretch the bag out. My son has recently outgrown his Jet18, after many many years of use and adventures. He is a tiny 11 year old, who is too tall for the Jet18, but too small for an XS adult pack. He has a 50l youth overnight pack that we love and the 38 is very similar! Like the 50l, I love that this pack is also adjustable and grows with the kid, allowing several years of use. He is currently on the middle setting( of 3 settings.) It has the top “ brain/snack pack ” that he likes and the inside is roomy enough for his 10 essentials, plus more. Osprey has changed the side pouches to have a fabric base, opposed to their previous mesh side pockets that would eventually wear out. I do wish Osprey made an adjustable back pack like this in a smaller liter. 38 liter is huge for a younger child as a daypack. ` I am a 50 year old occasional hiker who has n't had a new pack since college. Just spent 3 days hiking in the Catskills with this pack on my back for 7- 8 hours a day and I love it. Plenty of space and super comfortable. I barely noticed I was even carrying a pack, had zero shoulder or back strain, and like the frame that allows for some airflow through the back area- a big plus hiking in 80+ degree weather. Completed the Everest Base Camp Trek a few weeks ago. Out of 8 people in our group there were 5 of us wearing Osprey packs. I had the Scarab 30 and loved it. We hiked in sun and rain, hot and cold, through wood and over rock fields. This pack was on my back every day every step of the way. The bladder was full with an extra bottle of water on the side at the waist belt and the bag was full with essentials for weather swap outs and everything i needed to get from A to B and survive without my big duffel. It never chafed my shoulders or waist, felt great on my back and did n't sweat me up by allowing air to flow around it. It was exactly the right choice. The design of the bladder makes it very easy to fill and shove back in its home. the only thing i would change or add would be a cover over the drinking port. We were dropping our packs in a lot of places, on trails in Tea houses, coffee houses and different temples, everywhere and the drinking port always ended up on the ground. Would of been nice to have some sort of cover.

I 've been using this Surge backpack since 2019 and it has been great! I 've heard my family's thoughts on the newer model of the same backpack and they are not as impressed. The straps are more prone to breaking and the seams have started tearing pretty early in the life of their backpack. This being said, my older model has been so great! It's gone through years of hauling notebooks, folders, textbooks, water bottles, and clothes for practice after school. One of the shoulder straps did begin to tear last year( 2024) slightly but a quick stitch- job has got it back to working order. I would definitely buy a North Face backpack again!

This bagpack is fantastic for keeping your items cold/hot. Everything on the pack is high quality. It's very spacious and when you 're carrying the pack, the weight feels evenly distributed. I took it on an 8 mile hike and the only issue I had was the straps chaffed against my skin. I hike in tank tops so that was a bit of an issue for the bare skin in contact with the straps. The heavier the bag is, the more you 'll feel the chaffing. I have other bags that do n't do this. Other than this minor detail, the bag is fantastic.

This little pack has been the perfect travel companion. I like to 'carry on' travel as often as possible- even a two week long trip to the UK and Ireland. As I can never truly get away from work my second bag has to be my computer bag holding a substantial amount of work related items. As such its hard to repurpose as a day pack. For me this leaves out the option of a day pack once on the ground. Enter the In and Out. It truly packs down small and takes up little room in my computer bag and once at my destination becomes an extremely effective day pack for touring about, shopping, hiking and going to the beach. This 19- liter wonder was clearly designed by extraterrestrials, likely reverse- engineered from UFO wreckage they found near a New Mexico desert. [ I bought this pack because of the running vest shoulder harness system. I heard reviews that it relieved the pain that other hikers were having with their standard shoulder harnesses. I was reading the reviews and was saddened to see a not so good one... I love my Tempest! I want a new one, only because it is so- so dirty from travel and use. It is my daily driver, I keep it in the car for dogs, hikes, exploring, I take it skiing for snacks, layers, water and goodies, I take it overseas China Great Wall, South Korea Hiking, Europe day trips and for quick outings, hiking, exploring the foreign towns and cities. I recently went on a camping trip to Big Pine, CA. I hiked up to First and Second Lake which was about an 11. 3 mile hike and roughly 6. 5 hours. The Tempest 9 was perfect! I was able to fit a 3L hydration pack, my snacks, a small first aid kit and other items for the hike. I was a little worried the Tempest 9 was going to be too small, but it did the job. When it came time to selecting a size, I measured at 17 '' '' so I could have gone with either the XS/S or the M/L, I went with the XS/S, however, wished I would have went with the M/L. The hipbelt ended up coming up to my bellybutton. Overall, I am really happy with this backpack!

[ This is my fourth Osprey backpack. I needed a daypack to hike Pike's Peak. This fit the bill, plenty of room for water. Change of clothes and snacks with room to spare. I will say that you do have to put the bladder( not included) into the pack before you pack in the rest of your items. A little annoying but also no big deal. Fit great and comfortable which is the most important part.

[ The new updated Osprey Rook 65 Performs outstanding. It caries the load very well. While I used it on a winter day hike with only 25 lbs in it I feel it will comfortably carry about 35- 40 lbs. The new Rook series packs 50 and 65 liter are well worth the price they retail for. If you are a well seasoned hiker or a beginner you ca n't go wrong with the Osprey Rook. I imagine the Women's Renn will preform as well.

[ I just used this pack for a week of day hikes( 10 to 14 miles each day). I could not be happier with it. I have the small size, and it fits my 4'11 '' torso well. The hip belt sits properly, and the weight balances nicely. I was able to comfortably carry more weight than I expected, and I felt stable going up and down hills. It was great- I trekked along without having to think abut my pack. My favorite part of this pack is the shoulder straps. They are much softer and more flexible than other packs I tried, while still getting the job done. They adjust easily. They 're shaped nicely and do n't dig anywhere! The shoulder straps are often miserable for me with my small shoulders, and these are a dream. The cell phone pocket on the front of one strap is genuis, and I put my sunscreen in a corresponding pocket on the other shoulder strap. [ My Atmos AG 65 was a replacent for my 10 year old Atmos backpack. After 10 years the old pack started `` delaminating '', I guess it is called, when the coating inside starts to peel. I was happily surprised when Osprey replaced the pack under their all mighty guarantee. I really liked my old Atmos for the ventilation on the back and for the pockets. I am finding I like the Atmos AG even more. It fits me better and carries very well for me. It is not nearly as light as my Kakwa, but the convenience of the pockets, the airflow for my back, and just the general feel of the weighted pack will keep it relevant and useful for many years to come. I expect this pack will not spend much time hanging in the closet.

Purchased: Aug 2024 Uses: 15+ day hikes with scrambling in the eastern Sierra General: I purchased the Sportlite 30 to replace my aging, 11 year old, Deuter Speedlite 30. My preference is a balance of lightweight, volume, and comfort, and I had not seen anything comparable to my Speedlite until I saw the Osprey. Having used it for a few months, I feel I can give a run down of my impressions. Fit: I have a 16 ” torso and purchased the small which fits very well. It carries much better than my Speedlite as it stays in place on my back better and there is less play when scrambling. What I like: Stretch side panels keep items secure, as does the front stretch compression pocket. I am very pleased Osprey added 2 hip pockets and I like that one of them is a stretch mesh pocket. I ’ ve always had zippered pockets in the past, and the stretch mesh secures a snack and allows for an easier retrieval than fighting with a zipper. I wasn ’ t sure I was going to like the direct access hydration sleeve, but it has worked well. Although the shoulder straps seem thin, they are comfortable and I ’ ve had no issues with them. What could be better: The 2 stretch loops on the shoulder straps are too high. I have a carabiner attached to the lower loop and it sits on top of my shoulder and sticks out rather than hanging down. I ’ d really like to see these moved lower. The side stretch mess pockets are about an inch to high. It is very difficult to reach around to grab something, e. g., bottle of liquid fuel/electrolytes, and put it back. The front compression pocket is also a bit too high. I basically have to unclip the compression straps to grab something, e. g., gloves, hat, from the pocket. But, on the other hand, if the pocket were not as high, it might not hold as much. I 'm not sold yet on the trekking pole loops. They seem small cumbersome. When I 've had to store my poles, I stuff them in a side pocket and secure them with the top compression straps. Lastly, I prefer my key clip to be in the external pocket of the top lid. At the end of a hike, when I ’ m tired and just want to get in my car, with the clip in the external pocket, all I have to do is unzip+ unclip. The workflow to get to one ’s keys in the under the lid pocket design requires one to undo 2 compression straps( 2 clicks)+ flip the lid+ unzip the pocket+ unclip. That ’s 5 steps vs 2. Despite the above limitations, I really do like this pack, especially how it carries. It meets my requirements for being light, having a 30L volume, and being comfortable. I ’ m not sure of the durability yet.. the mesh panel on the back has already ripped.

[ I completed the Tour Du Mont Blanc with the pack, loaded out at 43LBS with Gregory's 3D hydro 2L reservoir. This pack is SO COMFORTABLE, well vented and has just the right access. The water bottle holder is great. No taking off the pack to get your 0. 5L Nalgene. Good amount of external storage. On a long hike like the TMB where you are on the trail for 6- 7 hours every day, comfort is king and this pack delivered. A couple minor complaints: No Rain Fly. For the price point, others provide it, but Gregory's standard rain fly fit perfect and did the job on the one day it was required. The zippers on the hipbelt pockets are a little frustrating to operate one- handed. I 'm a larger, sweaty guy that needed a trampoline style pack for good ventilation on hot summer days. This pack delivered. I just ca n't recommend it enough.

I received this pack 2 days before embarking on a 150 mile trek through the backcountry of Yellowstone NP. This pack more than provided for all of my needs. Extremely comfortable, and extremely durable. I really put this pack through the the ringer, adding to my adventure with miles through Grand Teton NP and Badlands NP. This pack accommodated all of the various needs. Will be once again strapping up with this pack this weekend for an Appalachian Trail section hike, and a thru hike of the Foothills Trail.

I got this pack about 3 weeks ago and I have tested it out several times. It is a very simple and easy- to- use pack with great features and comfort. It is easy to adjust the torso length and various straps, and all of the storage compartments work well. If you are looking for something to keep you comfortable and happy on the trail this is the way to go! Definitely for longer trips where you would need a BV 500 or more gear. In the last month, this pack has been used in the Sierra's, Humbolt- Toiyabe national forest in Nevada, and Pine Valley in Utah on 2+ night backpacking trips. I have never been disappointed by anything I have used from Gregory, and this bag has been a solid piece of gear. 10/10 would recommend!
