That all changed when they came out with the Experience collection and the move to a mid- drop ALTernative. I have the altra gators and( not just this shoe but others) the laces do n't go far enough towards to toes so you ca n't use the lace hook on the gator. I am trying to progress down to minimalist shoes so the escalante 4 are a good step in that transition. I was n't thrilled with any of the women's models/colors in wide width, so I decided to purchase the Men's Escalante 4( mens regular is equivalent to womens wide width) instead. I wear a 10- 10. 5 wide in womens and went with the mens size 9 in black/white- perfect fit. Of course I wish the color was a bit more feminine, but at least there was a neutral option! I 'm new to the wide toe box, zero drop but I 'm absolutely in love with this shoe& hope I never have to go back to traditional tennis shoes. Zero- drop requires some adjustment time- my calves have been BURNING on walks, so I 've had to slow it down. FYI I tried Flux footwear first, but they are ridiculously narrow, so I had to return( also beware their return policy). I wear my new altras for walking and strength training primarily, and I plan to wear them when I visit London for 10 days in October. So happy with my purchase overall. My go to every day shoe. They are super versatile and comfy. I wear these to work with jeans, skirts, athleisure style slacks- they go with everything. I personally love the chunky look of them and the white leather makes them more fashion- forward and versatile. I wore them everyday straight for a week in Europe and had no reason to switch to my other shoes. They wipe clean easily too. They are terrific! I have never worn Brooks before and would like to try other models to be certain the ghost max 2 is indeed the best for me. Non elite runner, former Div 1 soccer player and a high school basketball player! Like running for conditioning and its simplicity. These are my first plated super shoe. My favorite shoe all- time is the 2017 Nike Turbo Pegasus. The Vaporfly 3 is a great shoe, but there are a few caveats. It is really light- weight, well cushioned. It has a lot of pep and a very good toe off. I am a mid foot striker, so the shoe is very effective at improving your speed. Heel strikers, this shoe could be trouble. I am relatively neutral runner too, so, non- neutrals beware! I have only run 5 miles in the show. My first two times was on a dedicated pavement path. Light rain both times! The sneakers are pretty grippy. I had No slippage! These are very “ airy ” uppers- no over heating at all. I have high in- step and arches! I use a runners knot- perfect! No heel slippage and very good lock down! The plate with high arch was noticeable, but, no discomfort running! The shoe excels at running at pace, and when speeding up. It does both effortlessly and it seems to prefer that tempo to any other running style! I did not run on trails- and I would not recommend! The trail would probably shred the soles! I am not sure if the rear rubber bumpers will make it to 100 miles ’ and I am a mid- foot striker! The shoe laces are quality and had no slippage! The toe box is roomy and I wore my true Nike size 10. Visually, the shoe looks narrow, but, it did not feel “ narrow ” when running! Quite the opposite, actually! I do not have narrow feet, and I had no problems with the shoe ’s last. I am about 6- pounds heavier than my ideal running weight of 141 lbs and the shoes easily handle my weight. Bottom Line; an amazingly engineered shoe, bouncy, very light weight, airy and cool, no heel slippage, pretty good traction, very good lock- down, excellent for running at pace and for higher tempo runs. I have no intention of running more than a 10K in these. And I would NOT wear these for “ easy runs ”, nor for “ recovery runs ”. These are highly focused and motivated and performance driven running shoes! There is not a mellow bone in its body or soul! The carbon plate is noticeable, and may take some getting used to. I will try to update the review after 50 and 100 miles, to see how the shoe is wearing and holding up. I bought the shoe myself, and I fully recommend. The shoe challenges you to run efficiently and with pace. The shoe has a purposeful mindset!

In all honesty... I do not run... unless being chased... or the quick sprint to catch my kids. But I walk, hike, ruck,& I am brutal on my feet/shoes with a- lot of stop& go in my work. I average 6- 10 miles a day& for the first time in a while my feet did not scream at the end of 3 straight days trying these, great right out of the box( really low profile socks bunch up in the back a bit) They do work really well with my custom orthotics, clean easy, breath, do not really pick up gravel, and have great grip and balance. I ca n't wait to try other styles. I hope they last longer than the others. Godspeed.

I am not a runner so do n't know if these would be good for running, but they are the most comfortable shoes I have every own. I walk my dogs 15- 20 miles a week and every step is heaven. They are n't so good on slanted terrain. My partner likes them enough that she bought two pair.

I 've switched between Dyads and Beasts for the last decade and they helped me protect my arches which were shot fifty years ago. I tried to just buy another pair of Beasts only to find out that they are no longer made. So I was forced to go to the Ghost Max. These are padded in all the right places and they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever had. I bought two pairs just to be sure they did n't go out of production. I feel nothing buy happy when I put them on every morning. I am 89 so I do n't run anywhere; still these are great shoes for old feet as well as I suppose they are for younger feet. But with the beast gts, they do not need the superfeet insert. This saves their knees, ankles and money for expensive shoe inserts.
