Ever see the character, Tigger, from the Winnie the Pooh stories? He literally bounces with every step! That ’s how you will feel with these shoes. I bought the shoes because we own 2 large Golden Doodles who need to go outside or be walked several times a day. Sometimes we run. These shoes have gone thru mud, snow, puddles, and more, and never missed a beat. My feet stayed dry and I just rinsed the shoes upon returning inside and good as new. I normally wear a 7. 5, but sized up to an 8 and the fit is perfect. I really like the extra room in the toebox, so I can wiggle my toes. However, the shoes do tend to run a bit narrow, so just a heads up if you have a wide foot. The shoes easily accomodated my orthotic once I pulled out the insole provided.( Hey, Nike, these shoes should have a unglued, easily removable, insole!) Overall, I am thrilled with my purchase.

Where did I take my new shoes? First trip is to Portugal, including beaches, cobblestone streets, hiking on gravel and stone paths. And yes, a bit of water to test the waterproof claim. Warm and dry- but not too warm. They breathe better than past waterproof shoes( including from Merrell) I have had. Fine for wearing all day in the sun. These shoes fit true to size and are amazingly comfortable. They are soft and squishy enough to survive 10- hour days working on concrete but also rock solid on runs and in the gym. I just ordered my second pair of the Rubatos to replace the ones I ordered a year ago. I walk about 1- 4 miles a day and have worn these on about 66% of those walks. They provide plenty of cushioning and support. I can wear these for long periods of time without my lower back and feet hurting. I have a couple of pairs of Merrell Mixmaster shoes. I have mostly worn them out having had them so long and I have wanted something from Merrell that was equally light. The Long Sky 2 shoes fit the bill. I do n't think they are quite as light but I think they may be a bit more rugged in construction. It takes getting used to the nature of the slip in bootie style shoe but they do cradle your feet well and give very good support and best of all they are very light and that equates to all day comfort.

Love the roomy width of the shoe. Love the firm support of the sole( I do n't like especially gushy shoes, like New Balance tend to be). Love their light weight. Super light and responsive. Much different from other trail shoes on the market. Merrell has a great minimalist line up and I think this really adds to it. If you ’ re looking for something with more grip and pop than the trail gloves, or just something light and nimble that doesn ’ t feel clunky like other shoes, this will for sure be for you. Only minor complaint is that the heel feels like you ’ re slipping out at first, but I got used to it during the first run, didn ’ t have any issues with fit or comfort.
