[ I had another Columbia Rain jacket and left if on a plane. I researched many rain jackets for what I wanted and ended up going with Columbia again. I wanted it `` longish '', rain proof of course but also warm, zippered deep pockets, and a nice hood with good fastening abilities around the face. I just got back from an Alaskan cruise and wanted it specifically for this trip and an Antarctica one I have in January. It was perfect, performed well in all areas I wanted it to. I read LOTS of reviews( 1 star review- 5 star reviewers) before purchasing, and I am pleasantly surprised with the fit of the jacket. SEVERAL reviewers stated the jacket runs large, one or two stated it runs `` true to size '', so, what is the `` real deal ''? I believe it runs pretty true to its stated size. The large is a little large on me, and the sleeves are a bit long. I have long arms( wear shirt size 16 X 34- 35 '') and the large jacket sleeves are a bit too long. So, it is NOT a `` tailored fit look '', but I personally prefer the jacket to be a bit larger to enable me to wear a sweater of hoodie underneath. The Medium size may have been a better fit; not sure; but I also wanted the grey jacket( which is almost black in color) and it has a somewhat sculptured fit in the way it was designed. I am MOST pleased. PAY HEED: Do NOT attempt to put anything in what `` appears to be '' inside pockets, as these are NOT inside pockets, they are the inside lining for the two outside access pockets. Several people `` assume '' them to be pockets only to have had their cell phones drop to the floor.
