I bought this shoe because I had previously used the FJ Contour Jogger golf shoe that had the same sole. The Contour casual has the same benefit of the excellent gripping sole( without spikes) and also the ability to go car to pro shop( not wearing out golf cleats). The leather on this shoe is amazing and if you 've owned FJ before, you know to buy something when it's available because there's always the poss of things changing in future years with sytle etc. The functionality of this shoe is A++, the quality is A++, the durability is A++. My feet were never uncomfortable, I felt the shoes were breathable and sturdy/stable. There was less rain than anticipated but when it rained or there were puddles, my feet and shoes stayed totally dry. My only complaint is they did scuff/dirty and though they ’ re easily cleanable, the suede detail has remained grey after antibacterial wipes. I will try a more aggressive cleaning method though. I ordered Oxford dress shoes I saw my order confirmed for Oxford PTC. I liked how the PTC looked so I did not complain about it. When I get new shoe I usually have to buy a thicker foam insoles. I had to do that with this pair of shoes as well. I like how well I can walk all day in these shoes. Usually I buy hard toe shoes, but I am experimenting with the bumper toe. I already slammed my toes into a cart wheel, the bumper toe protected my toes, no pain. I am a nurse, moving fast, making turns. These shoes stay on and perform very well.

The shoes are well made and I can already tell they will be very durable in a greasy, dirty environment.( Transmission mechanic). The oil resistant does have a more open tread pattern so they wo n't collect the oil and dirt and cake up with it. However, these are not what I would call comfortable. The leather on the upper is very stiff and hard on your feet, the insoles are kind of hard. They are getting better as I break them in, but still not great. I 'm not sure I would buy a second pair after this one.

I expected a break- in period but these blacksmiths were comfortable out of the box. Soft but supportive and the fit was perfect for me. No chafing, roomy but not loose. The traction was good even in wet weather. And they are fine to wear even during hot and humid days where I live. Having previously owned a pair of Timberland SmartWool slip- ons that were wonderful to wear, I gave the Mt. Maddsen slip- ons a try. They did not disappoint. The leather uppers softened and molded themselves to fit my foot so they have become my preferred shoe for working in the yard as well as hiking. They shed water well and the thick soles keep my foot out of puddles in the rain. [ I hike and walk my dog in the woods and I walk through rivers and streams a lot. I need shoes that: 1) Are supportive enough to actually hike in-- and 2) I can walk through and INTO muddy, rocky rivers and streams in( usually chasing my dog)-- and 3) Then keep hiking-- and 4) Have them dry overnight or faster so I can wear them again. It has been SOOO difficult to find these. `` Water Sandals '' are not supportive enough to hike in and THEY HURT, and are so open that all sorts of rocks and stones get into them and under your feet, and those rigid straps give me blisters. Standard `` waterproof '' shoes still let water in at the top if you actually submerge your feet-- and I do-- and get soaked from the inside out. And then take DAYS to dry. And they actually are soft, and do n't give me blisters even without socks and everything gives me blisters!! WHY were these so hard to find? I would give 10 stars if I could, and have SERIOUSLY tried and tried to find shoes like these. You wo n't find them anywhere else( which I do n't understand).

Great boot. Bought the wide and it is roomy. Was able to put my inserts on top of the existing insoles with no problem. Very comfortable.

Was searching for sneakers with both support and comfort with a focus on safety. Many brands use a sole that makes walking on a wet surface feel like walking on ice. I ’ ve had these about a week now and they meet all the criteria. Great grip so I no longer worry about slipping and comfortable enough to walk several miles without discomfort.

[ I was looking for a sneaker that was breathable and would dry quickly for my trip to Costa Rica. These were perfect! Waterproof shoes are n't great for climates like Costa Rica's because they make your feet hot. Instead, finding a shoe like the PFG Castback TC that could get dirty, be washed in the sink/shower, and then dry quickly, fit the bill. I normally wear a 7. 5 or 8 wide, the 7. 5 fit me perfectly and the shoe did n't feel tight. The only thing I 'd like to see change is Columbia remove the `` blood n' guts '' label on the shoe physically. I understand that's a rating they give the shoe for the fact that those things can be cleaned off easily when fishing, but it's a bit weird to have actually ON the shoe itself. I 'd love to see some darker color options for this shoe for women's fit!
