This is my 3rd baitcasting reel and still consider myself a beginner. It was incredibly easy to dial everything in! Casting it was smooth and the only backlashes I experienced was just due to inexperience. After I dialed everything in, I used my thumb to cast and did n't experience any backlash. Eventually, I was able to cast it without my thumb and did n't experience any backlash! It's an incredible reel and would highly recommend. I received my rod with one guide damaged( bent, with the insert ring ready to pop out) due to poor packaging for shipping. The rod was taped to the inside of a floppy, poorly constructed triangular box that looked like a gorilla had stepped on it. A cardboard rod tube would have been a logical shipping container choice. I managed to repair the damaged guide and noticed that the action of the rod is labeled MHF. I feel the action is a little on the lighter side though. More like a Medium Action. Great rod for 99 bucks, I purchased the 7ft medium action which has great sensitivity with 36 ton graphite, metal locking nut and the trigger is very comfortable to fish with. I personally like the carbon fiber reel butt a lot, which is very nice looking and adds to the lightness of the rod. Nice lightweight rod especially paired up with my JDM Metanium. Can cast lighter lures easily if paired up with the right reel. I was able to cast smaller swimbaits which I usually use my spinning rod for. Loved it so far hoping it holds up well.

Purchased this reel a few weeks ago and finally got to use it today. pulled in a 8 pound 26 inch channel catfish with ease. The clicker is awesome, i was standing 20- 30 feet away and herd it over the noise from the rapids. This is a nice Baitcaster. It ’s made in Korea not Japan. I own 3 of these reels and am very happy with my purchase. I use 12 or 15 Floro on it and you almost have to try to make it backlash. Dicks had it for$ 219 and Amazon had it for$ 160! You have to do your own research. Dicks price matched it no problem.

Great reels. I have 2 and am shopping for another. Wo n't buy it here because they do not have the higher gear ratio in the left hand retrieve model. Only 4 stars because it comes with combat grips instead of Winn knobs. But, I have swapped the combat grips for Winn round knobs. I even contacted Lew's and was able to get black and gold end caps for the knobs. I have one on a TP1 Black and the other on a Custom Lite.
