Running around, prepping for trip, they kept my feet warm and dry in negative temps and snow. Standing for 4+ hours at a time, no problem. These were the only shoes I took on my 7- day trip: walking, hiking, ice, snow, rain, airports, shopping on cobblestone streets- you name it, I did it and my feet felt great. Fortunately I did not experience standing in deep snow or excessive rain, so I ca n't speak to how waterproof they are in extreme climates- but the limited rain and snow I encountered my feet stayed dry. Traction was good on snow and ice, I did n't slip or slide once. Use the website measurements to choose your size- it was spot on. I loved the look of these boots so much, I decided to take a gamble and just order the regular 8 and I 'm glad I did; they fit perfectly! I 'll even have plenty of room for my thick socks. first hike rubber tip on one toe of one shoe starting to peel back. I do n't recall catching my toe on something. I have the altra gators and( not just this shoe but others) the laces do n't go far enough towards to toes so you ca n't use the lace hook on the gator. I push the gator fabric through some laces as a workaround. Other than these 2 minor things I love them

These are not marketed as a hiking shoe; however, I find them to be a pretty good option for most hikes as long as you are not going over very technical/sharp terrain, and are accustomed to the barefoot shoe lifestyle. These shoes fit true to size and are amazingly comfortable. They are soft and squishy enough to survive 10- hour days working on concrete but also rock solid on runs and in the gym. When running, you 'll feel them propel you forward for the next step. I 'm also a bit of wide footer and these have plenty of room in the forefoot/toe area for me. Great shoes! My only complaint was a small part of the toe cap started to peel up after a few months of wearing them, but I was able to carefully super glue it back into place.

I ’ m a size 12 through and through, but these in the same size were tight. The toe box is smaller than normal. Also you need to take into account feet swelling and perhaps thicker socks. I wore these for the first time all day hiking around Grand Cyn Village. I was surprised there was no uncomfortable rubbing or stiffness which is very common with new hiking shoes. I was very impressed!

Took my Merrells to a winter trip to Amsterdam, Netherlands, when it was raining heavily, was windy, and cold. The sneakers showed it best performance- one week walking a lot in the city, my feet were dry, warm, comfy( and my knees were comfy too- love the sneaker's bouncy soil!), and never slipped, even on wet cobble stones.
