Had the normal one full day break- in period. This is my third pair and I keep coming back for them. They are rugged and durable and last a little over a year when used roughly for hiking, trail running and slogging through the mud. I compete with these a lot because they keep the water out( unless I go in the streams) and they hold up really well. The soles start to get thinner after 1. 5 years but I have n't found any others that hold up any better and still stay together like these Moab 3's.

I ’ ve been wearing Merrill shoes since I was in the Army. I got this particular model in 2010 and it felt like I was Spider- Man humping up and down the Hindu Kush. I also recommend the chameleons! So now that it ’s been ten years I picked up going for long walks and was wearing tennis shoes. I went back to these and love them! The only issue is my left foot toe bed was rubbing but it ’s an uncommon issue and only happened AFTER my eight miles during a cool down mile. I previously did ten miles in these and had no issue! No limping, no true pain beyond having walked ten/eight miles, no blisters. I ’ m happy the quality is still top notch since 2010.

This boot the sizing has changed slightly they are smaller in the toe box. I went with a half size larger but I probably could have stayed with my regular size 10 and just broke them in. They are to me a light version on the quest boots that are much heavier and clunck than these. I 've bought a few different salomon hiking boots over the years and you ca n't go wrong if you are a day hiker with these they are agile and do n't slip dry or wet they get the job done and protect your feet in every situation. These come out the box with a good insole and minimal break in time, I ’ ve had some 14- 18 hour days on them and while my feet are tired and fatigued at the end of the day, they don ’ t hurt. They also provide great ankle support. I ’ ve worn it hiking, inside of shoothouse training, and during hog hunts and it ’s been a very reliable sturdy shoe for me. While it may be labeled “ waterproof ” I wouldn ’ t walk through deep water or soak them for hours on end and expect perfectly dry feet, it ’s unrealistic and not what it ’s built for in my opinion, it will keep them dry in rain or more shallow ankle deep water, or walking through wet fields. However nothing is perfect, if your looking for something to keep your feet from sweating this isn ’ t it, with them being the waterproof version your feet are going to sweat pretty good, I knew this going into it and therefor it didn ’ t bother me. But I would recommend a different version if you want a nice breathable shoe. The other thing I would change is how thick the tongue is, it doesn ’ t really rub or create hot spots or sit weird it ’s just a personal preference thing for me.

Where did I take my new shoes? First trip is to Portugal, including beaches, cobblestone streets, hiking on gravel and stone paths. And yes, a bit of water to test the waterproof claim. Warm and dry- but not too warm. They breathe better than past waterproof shoes( including from Merrell) I have had. Fine for wearing all day in the sun. A good balance of support and cushion, without excess weight. Excellent traction on smooth surfaces.

this is a replacement for a pair of leather ones i had years ago.. I chose this colors because to a 79 year old they look good...

I like these a lot: They have a nice wide/not too wide footprint. They have good ankle support. They have great traction. They are very comfortable. The waterproofing worked well( as it should because they are new). My only complaint is that padding on the ankles makes them pretty wide at the ankle and that tends to catch debris and funnel it down into the shoe... so they are not my pick for places where there is a lot of trail debris.... or perhaps I should have used gaiters. But they are perfect for wet, slippery, or dry trail conditions and casual wear. To me, the picture makes them look like they have green trim: They are shades of grey, not green-- I was pleasantly surprised by that, and I think they are a good- looking pair of shoes.
