I ’ ve been wearing Merrill shoes since I was in the Army. I got this particular model in 2010 and it felt like I was Spider- Man humping up and down the Hindu Kush. I also recommend the chameleons! So now that it ’s been ten years I picked up going for long walks and was wearing tennis shoes. I went back to these and love them! The only issue is my left foot toe bed was rubbing but it ’s an uncommon issue and only happened AFTER my eight miles during a cool down mile. I previously did ten miles in these and had no issue! [ So far I have hiked with these shoes a little over 20mi. I hiked Mount Monadnock two days each day around 10mi. They are very lightweight while being pretty supportive. I definitely felt confident using these shoes on the Spellman, Pompelly,& Marlboro Trails. Spellman being the steepest trail on the mountain, I had no problem climbing off trail on the steep granite slabs. I was able to use the flat toe part of the boot to to support myself while standing on small cracks in the rock like I was wearing a climbing shoe. It was awesome! I felt like a kid at the playground! Terrain was mostly dry, but there were a couple wet spots that the Megagrip sole did perform well on. Temperature was in the low 70 ’ sF. The only negative I have about the boot, is that it does not breathe well. My feet did sweat considerably wearing a lightweight synthetic sock. Both days I took my shoes and socks off at the summit and removed the Ortholite insoles to dry for a half hour in the sun and wind. The inside of the boots didn ’ t fully dry out. The Ortholight insole mostly dried, because they are very thin. Inersoles could be a little thicker to provide more cushioning, but overall my feet felt good at the end of both hikes. These are aggressive trails for breaking in new shoes, but they felt pretty good out of the box, so I went for it. This boot the sizing has changed slightly they are smaller in the toe box. I went with a half size larger but I probably could have stayed with my regular size 10 and just broke them in. They are to me a light version on the quest boots that are much heavier and clunck than these. I 've bought a few different salomon hiking boots over the years and you ca n't go wrong if you are a day hiker with these they are agile and do n't slip dry or wet they get the job done and protect your feet in every situation. I ’ ve worn Salomon boots for years. Since they dont have the older model x ultra mid boots. I decided to try these ones out. They look nice and seem to have all the features from the previous model. However, they have an uncomfortable pressure point located on the inside middle part of both boots. Which makes it uncomfortable to wear as soon as you wear them. Running around, prepping for trip, they kept my feet warm and dry in negative temps and snow. Standing for 4+ hours at a time, no problem. These were the only shoes I took on my 7- day trip: walking, hiking, ice, snow, rain, airports, shopping on cobblestone streets- you name it, I did it and my feet felt great. I bought these for a trip to Scotland, which I have n't gone on yet, but I 've been wearing them around town to break them in to get an idea if they 'll be comfy or not. So far, they have no `` hot spots ''. I normally wear a size 6. I bought a size 6. They fit true to size. My pinky toe( the usual blister spot) has no complaints. The toe box is comfortable- not too sloppy or tight. The heel( mine is a tad narrow) is also feeling happy with the width. My ankle bones are picky and a bit thin- skinned, so that was my hesitation on getting taller boots. I 've worn them several miles, and for several days, all day, and there's no hot spots on the ankle either. The stone color is pretty, and I love the contrast with the lavender colored laces. The laces are easy to change out. The boots are light weight, so your legs do n't get tired. It has n't rained, so I ca n't attest to the waterproof- ness of these, but the tongue is attached almost to the top- about where the eyelets change to hooks. The tongue is padded. I wore my zero cushion wool socks with these and my feet were warm and comfy all day.

The Peakfreak was my final choice as I found that the cushioning level matched that of Hoka, without the bulk. I got the tan leather color which I love. originally went half size bigger like website suggested but it was to big so I went with my true size a 10. I took these on my rafting trip down the GRAND CANYON. I brought them for the side hikes from the river. Which are usually washes with some water crossings. These shoes did so well! They have incredible traction for climbing over big rocks in dry washes, or on slick ledges. The traction is incredible! They were comfortable right off the go and my custom orthotics fit in then since they have a removable foot bed. I loved these boots on the trip! Completely waterproof over the foot but if water gets up to the mid part where the laces are water does come in. I am going to look for a goretex hiking gater for that.

I 've always loved Merrell shoes and I do love the Moab Speed 2s I purchased and if I was to change anything it would be I should 've ordered a half- size bigger, I ordered a 9. 5 but should 've gone for a size 10, they are a little tight but I think over time they will stretch. I 've had multiple pairs of these shoes and definitely put them through the wringer with my job. They 've been extremely comfortable from day one and have hardly any break- in time. These do n't last super long for me but I use them mainly as work shoes. These will last me anywhere between 6- 8 months on the job through rigorous hosing, bleach, and a whole bunch of other chemicals so they definitely get their share of work. I switched to a different pair the last time I bought from here just to try something different but these will always be my go- to.

This was my first pair of mid hikers( I prefer ankle height) but I immediately loved how comfortable these boots felt when I tried them on. I bought them for a trip to Sri Lanka, and my first hike with them ended up being an all- day 8- mile trek in the rain forest – I didn ’ t know this going into the hike or I might have worn my broken- in boots instead! I bought these boots originally because of the good sale price and the color. LOL. But when I received them, put them on to go for a walk, I was amazed at how comfortable they were. The FloatPro insole is the equivalent to an expensive orthotic insole in that it is supportive and yet has good cushion. It will be a go- to hiker since it did very well in the ice and snow. I bought these for a recent trip to Banff, Canada and they were amazing. They arrived only a few days before the trip so I was worried I would have issues with breaking them in but no problems! We did an 11 mile hike the second day of wearing them and I only got one tiny blister( which let ’s be honest, probably would have happened anyway). I wore them multiple times on my trip and every time I was so happy with them. Highly recommend!

These are super comfortable and very lightweight for a mid hiking shoe. The outer is only slightly tougher than a normal running shoe, but waterproof. Of course the outsole is much grippier. They are exactly what I was expecting from the description. I needed something with more ankle support but did n't need a heavy duty leather hiking boot. Very pleased!

Thirty years ago I suffered a severe mid foot crush fracture which is now arthritic combined with areas of non- union. I have worn Morrell Moab 3 ’s for many years with orthotics and had the best support possible, but the antora has given me amazing pain free ambulation while walking our rural property and roads, as well as while shopping and walking the dogs. The shoes are lighter weight, still offer excellent support especially mid- foot, with quicker and easier breakover which makes an enormous difference to my gait and comfort. Very durable and true to size. Definitely reccomend!
