This is one of the favorite rods I 've owned. I do alot of creek fishing mostly for bass but you can catch just about everything with these rods. Ca n't go wrong with a 7ft mh and the fast tip action is perfect for any occasion. Rod is durable and reels are well made. The reels that come with the combo are a little too big for what I like to use but they are nice reels. I still use them to catfish every now and then but prefer a 3000 size so I set the others aside. I o was n four of these combos and I 'm happy with each one.

The reel and rod combo itself is a wonderful smooth sensitive rod. I would not recommend buying a fishing rod through DSG though. I was severely disappointed with how mismanaged the whole shipping process was as I was sent the wrong size reel then had to beg customer support for a refund and all they wanted to give me at first was 10 dollars. For my first bait caster, it's great. If your scared about backlashing, do n't be. If you tune this rod right, it will never backlash. Regardless of the price being so cheap at 60$, it handles like a 150$ combo I just recently snapped mine but ive owned it since 2018 and have landed many many big fish on it. I ’ ve caught many bass over 4 pounds, big pickeral, big crappie, even a 10 lb catfish and it held up to it all. I purchased the 30 for my daughter about a month ago to go with her Stratus rod. She wanted pink braid but we could only find 15lb line so we spooled it up and threw a topwater on it and tested it out. To both of our amazement, she casted a good 35 yards on her first cast which is about double of what she was capable of with her old reel using the same rod and line brand. We switched rods keeping the same line and again, 30- 35 yards easy. I know there are a few factors when casting, but the only change made was the reel. This led me to believe that this reel made a huge difference for her. This is probably one of the best purchases for fishing equipment by far. Not to mention, the employee in the fishing section at the Summerville, SC location recommended it. Smooth casting, lightweight, very sleek, definitely recommend picking one up.

This is a very nice set. I 'm comparing this to my Or is Clearwater and it's holding up well. The rod is similar in characteristics. It feels a little less sensitive but acceptable. The finish is matte and really nice looking. The price shows in small details. The pieces are not marked for fit and the openings are not sealed. Neither point is really an issue. The cork handle seems a bit soft and maybe a tad lower quality than the orvis. I think this could become an issue over time and extended use. The reel seems fine. Not as smooth as my orvis either but overall very close. Very happy with it. The weak point in my opinion is the line. While I 'm no expert, it does n't feel quite as good. It's definitely functional but does n't have an end loop for easy threading of the leader. That also makes it a bit rough to thread through the rod sometimes. Anyway, of course there's a reason for the price but at that price I recommend this set. On our first outing, my son caught 5(!) Really nice trout vs my 2 on the Orvis. Obviously that's more due to the flies he was using and his skills:-) but it shows that this set works well. All the other bells and whistles are not necessary needed. It may come down to durability in the end.

I bought this reel( 2500 size) and paired it with a Lew's Custom Pro Speed Stick( got in on sale for$ 90) and am using with 8 lb test fluoro. I use this set up for lightweight and finesse type fishing such as skipping senkos under docks, drop shot fishing or throwing weightless texas rigs around. Will say this reel feels really smooth and can cast a great distance without much weight. Skipping under docks is way easier with this reel also because of how smooth it is. It is definitely an upgrade from the Lew's Mach Crush spinning combo and the Lew's Mach 2 spinning combo I have. This thing casts like a dream and handles a variety of lures well. Got the 33 Black for basic fishing, Crappie, Bass, Blue gill catfish etc. The casting is nice and smooth as is the retrieval, it has 4 bearings and you can feel and hear the difference between this and the standard 33. The rod is nice and light, love the grips on it. once minor gripe, I would love to have seen one more eyelet guide. but Overall very happy been fishing for over 40 years and I still love going to the Zeb's 33 reels They just get out of your way, and do what they are intended to do, so you can just enjoy fishing. Casting it was smooth and the only backlashes I experienced was just due to inexperience. After I dialed everything in, I used my thumb to cast and did n't experience any backlash.
