Moab 3s are like a Toyota. I. e., c'mon why do you even need to think about it?!?? I 'm on my third pair. I live in the hiking/backpacking mecca of western WA. I 've used them for everything- and with the waterproof ones- in any weather. I 've never needed more boot on my feet. Right now, I own two pair at once, simply because the older pair does n't look so great out in public, not because they 're shot. I ’ ve been wearing Merrill shoes since I was in the Army. I got this particular model in 2010 and it felt like I was Spider- Man humping up and down the Hindu Kush. I also recommend the chameleons! So now that it ’s been ten years I picked up going for long walks and was wearing tennis shoes. I went back to these and love them! The only issue is my left foot toe bed was rubbing but it ’s an uncommon issue and only happened AFTER my eight miles during a cool down mile. I previously did ten miles in these and had no issue! No limping, no true pain beyond having walked ten/eight miles, no blisters. I ’ m happy the quality is still top notch since 2010.

I ’ m on my second pair. They last about 14 months for me. But I truly don ’ t mind because these are by far the most comfortable deck boot/shoe whatever you wan na call it that I ’ ve worn. I compare the soul of the boot to one of the “ helm pads ” that are nice and squishy and comfy to save your feet back and knees on those nasty days running in a 27 ’ cc. With these no matter where you stand you have a helm pad under your feet. I ’ ve had many pairs of the original 6 ” xtratufs over the years and one pair of all black leathers 6 ” boots for work and the sports are still by far my favorite. My last pair was over 2 years although they were hammered. Just picked up another pair and fitted them with some custom insoles. They are waterproof and best of all they are cool during the hot summers of south Louisiana because of their breathability properties. Where did I take my new shoes? First trip is to Portugal, including beaches, cobblestone streets, hiking on gravel and stone paths. And yes, a bit of water to test the waterproof claim. This boot the sizing has changed slightly they are smaller in the toe box. I went with a half size larger but I probably could have stayed with my regular size 10 and just broke them in. They are to me a light version on the quest boots that are much heavier and clunck than these. I 've bought a few different salomon hiking boots over the years and you ca n't go wrong if you are a day hiker with these they are agile and do n't slip dry or wet they get the job done and protect your feet in every situation. This is the second pair( exactly the same) that I 've bought because they 're my son's favorite, his chicken boots. His favorite animal has quickly become his favorite animal. They fit great. Snug around the ankle, definitely needs broke in but comfortable.

Bought for my 10 year old daughter when she takes care of her chickens and ducks. I purchased one size up so she can wear them longer, and she says they are still comfy even though they are a bit large. I bought these for a trip to Scotland where I expect rain most days. I tried them out at home here and found then to be perfectly waterproof. They were comfortable from the moment I put them on. I gave them a 4 star because the `` tongue '' at the closure does not easily tuck back under the boot side when tying the strings... and the strings need to be double knotted to stay closed... and that does n't always stay.

This was my first pair of mid hikers( I prefer ankle height) but I immediately loved how comfortable these boots felt when I tried them on. I bought them for a trip to Sri Lanka, and my first hike with them ended up being an all- day 8- mile trek in the rain forest – I didn ’ t know this going into the hike or I might have worn my broken- in boots instead! But these were sooooo comfortable and kept my feet happy all day. I wore them several times over the next couple weeks and every time was so happy I had decided on these boots. I bought these boots originally because of the good sale price and the color. LOL. But when I received them, put them on to go for a walk, I was amazed at how comfortable they were. The FloatPro insole is the equivalent to an expensive orthotic insole in that it is supportive and yet has good cushion. It will be a go- to hiker since it did very well in the ice and snow. It is also very warm and dry!

I work 12hr shifts at a warehouse and these are great for that environment.
