As someone with a lot of foot problems, finding shoes that are comfortable, supportive, and that look nice had been a challenge. After trying similar LL Bean and Timberland shoes, I finally got the Moab 3 from Merrell. After 4 years of daily use and frequent outdoors activity including outings with my son's scout troop, the upper started to crack where my foot flexes. The sole and lining was still in good condition with reasonable wear. With a rainy camping trip looming, I got the replacement pair and have been just as happy with the new shoes as I had been with the old ones. These are fantastic shoes that offer great stability, decent protection against water, and great comfort.

Most comfortable boots I 've ever owned. When I first put these on in the store, I had to run a couple laps up and down the isles, simply because they were so comfortable. Better than any running shoe I 've used. I bought these last year for a 9 day canoe camping trip in the Canadian wilderness, and these puppies kept up. I 've continued to use them for hiking, climbing, urbex, and rucking. Still no complaints. Do not buy these if you plan on keeping your feet dry. It's simply not what they 're made for. Unless you 're walking through water where your boot is fully submerged, I would n't go for these if you 're only walking through deep puddles or shallow water, as your socks will get wet. The whole purpose of this shoe is to drain quickly and dry quickly. Very rarely do you get excited to use a pair of boots, but these will get you excited to go out and play. Not endorsed, just love my boots. Its a shame they 're being discontinued.

[ Im on my third pair and these have been a great `` in between '' shoe. The stiffness and stability is right in the middle of a lightweight trainer and the other adidas hiking shoes. The goretex and big soft tread are great when walking the dog through deep and wet grass. And the weight is close enough to a trainer to still make them practical for travelling or other walking activities. Compared to other adidas running shoes they are a little more roomy for thicker socks but not enough to size down.

I ’ m a size 12 through and through, but these in the same size were tight. The toe box is smaller than normal. Also you need to take into account feet swelling and perhaps thicker socks. I wore these for the first time all day hiking around Grand Cyn Village. I was surprised there was no uncomfortable rubbing or stiffness which is very common with new hiking shoes. The boots are great! Handled spring time in Colorado so raining, ice, sleet and then snow all in one day. I mucked horse stalls and had very warm feet while doing that chore. This is my forth pair of these shoes. I wear them every day( whether I 'm going hiking or going to work) and they me last 4- 5 years. I like them because they 're very comfortable and the GORE- TEX keeps my feet dry. They also get a great grip on the trail and protect my feet from all manner of trail hazards. On the negative side, the sole separates from the shoe after a few years. It ’s possible to glue the sole back on, but for what these cost, the soles shouldn ’ t come unglued.

It is fairly stiff( good support) and the rubber is substantial and hard. It is n't super light or the most cushioned shoe. Definitely not for trail running of any kind. There are better shoes for light, fast, and cushiony( see Salomon Speedcross). I wanted these for short hikes on rough terrain or as a simple walkaround shoe or working in the yard. If you do n't want full leather or something similar but a little lighter and breathable check out the Oboz Firebrand.

I have been buying these boots for over ten years now and must be on my 10th or 11th pair. I have flat feet, suffer from plantar fasciitis, and have had a bad case of heel spur,( pain at night and at every step). Then I bought my first pair of Salomon Quest's 4, added some green superfeet insoles( which I wear in all other footwear as well/ but wo n't get the same result) and within a year of wearing these boots for 90% of my walking time about 12000 steps a day, 7 days a week at the time, my heel spur was completely gone, dissolved, my plantar fasciitis pain gone!! I got these after talking to a product specialist at REI. I learned about my arched feet and listened some general pointers that made a whole lot of sense to me. Until then, I usually did my hiking and backpacking with sneakers. Fashion wise, these things look pretty cool, no doubt, however they are a bit flashy for my tastes. I ’ m pretty skinny too so when I wear shorts with these I feel like I ’ m wearing clown shoes. When I hit the trail with these, oh man, it was like night and day in terms of comfort, traction, and foot support( in no particular order). I no longer have to watch my footing to prevent slipping when ascending hills on trails. My feet feel well supported when walking over rocks. As a matter of fact, the sole tech feels like a biolayer that adjusts itself to the bends my feet do when going over uneven terrain. It ’s just bananas! It ’s quite comfortable too and my arches feel supported; not sure how beneficial it is biomechanically, especially as I am currently being sucked into the world of the zero drop/barefoot peeps, but it sure feels comfortable! The REI rep did mention that having good foot support helps with endurance on long distance hikes so that is something I will pay attention to on my next 10+ mile hike. As I learned that my right foot was slightly longer than my left, this could explain why a blister developed on my right foot around the back of the heel ball. I ’ m hoping that after a few more hikes this won ’ t happen anymore. I haven ’ t been able to test out the goretex with water yet( as soon as I do another hike with a running stream, these bad boys are going in), but they seem to breath well. I did a 5 mile ridge hike with them that included multiple cresting points when it was around 80 with no shade and my feet didn ’ t feel too hot after. And since I brought up the barefeet people, I just want to mention the 11mm drop does kind of bothers me. Maybe I ’ m focused on it more, but I feel like there is no space between my heel and the ground when I take a step on level ground; it also feels like my knees are taking the brunt of the impacts when I strike down. However, descending down slopes feels great! The shoe also feels pretty sturdy, however I am eyeing the crease where the shoe bends in the toe box during heel uplift. I intend to care for these shoes after use to see how long I can wear them since I hear a lot about how these types of shoes( trail runners, or a hybrid of one in this case) aren ’ t durable. Anyways, hope to write good things after a year of moderate to heavy use( which for me would be like 100- 250 miles but hopefully more).
