These come out the box with a good insole and minimal break in time, I ’ ve had some 14- 18 hour days on them and while my feet are tired and fatigued at the end of the day, they don ’ t hurt. They also provide great ankle support. I ’ ve worn it hiking, inside of shoothouse training, and during hog hunts and it ’s been a very reliable sturdy shoe for me. While it may be labeled “ waterproof ” I wouldn ’ t walk through deep water or soak them for hours on end and expect perfectly dry feet, it ’s unrealistic and not what it ’s built for in my opinion, it will keep them dry in rain or more shallow ankle deep water, or walking through wet fields. However nothing is perfect, if your looking for something to keep your feet from sweating this isn ’ t it, with them being the waterproof version your feet are going to sweat pretty good, I knew this going into it and therefor it didn ’ t bother me. But I would recommend a different version if you want a nice breathable shoe. The other thing I would change is how thick the tongue is, it doesn ’ t really rub or create hot spots or sit weird it ’s just a personal preference thing for me.

I 've only wore these a few times but so far I really like them. I may have got a half size too big but they are spacious, flat and proivide lots of room for my toes. The traction on the bottom feels really good as well. I had ordered the low top to see if they would replace my trail glove but unfortunately those ones seem to have a much higher arch support than these mids. These ones are much more neutral. So if you are like me and want a more barefoot feel then these may work even if the low ankle wrapts did not feel good for you. I wear a 10 in some of their shoes and I got a 10. 5 in these.

I like these a lot: They have a nice wide/not too wide footprint. They have good ankle support. They have great traction. They are very comfortable. The waterproofing worked well( as it should because they are new). My only complaint is that padding on the ankles makes them pretty wide at the ankle and that tends to catch debris and funnel it down into the shoe... so they are not my pick for places where there is a lot of trail debris.... or perhaps I should have used gaiters. But they are perfect for wet, slippery, or dry trail conditions and casual wear. To me, the picture makes them look like they have green trim: They are shades of grey, not green-- I was pleasantly surprised by that, and I think they are a good- looking pair of shoes.

I am ordering my 3rd pair, I wore out my 2nd and glad that I can get another pair, they are light, they fit perfectly, I use a shoe horn to shoe in( a deer antler from a spike that I shot way back). Great narrow profile easy on trails and if I need to climb or walk on rocks or boulders great positive feeling. If and when they get wet they dry fairly quick. I am hoping they keep making this model, since this has been around for a few years now.

[ I had a pair of Newton Ridge 2 last year that held up very well, except for the tread wearing down to almost nothing, and water would trickle in after they had aged a few months. Moving into the Newton Wander has felt like a big step up. Cosmetically they look much nicer, and have a sleek look. They clean up very nicely too. I work in a lot of slick, and icy terrain so my biggest selling point is traction and durability. I have slipped around here and there wearing these, so that's why I have to dock one star. When hiking, working, climbing traction is absolutely key, and these unfortunately could be better in that regard. That aside they keep my feet dry, warm, and comfortable without making my feet sweat, and even after a long day at work my feet are n't aching at the end of it. All in all I do recommend these boots, but to advise caution on overly slick surfaces.

[ So far I have hiked with these shoes a little over 20mi. I hiked Mount Monadnock two days each day around 10mi. They are very lightweight while being pretty supportive. I definitely felt confident using these shoes on the Spellman, Pompelly,& Marlboro Trails. Spellman being the steepest trail on the mountain, I had no problem climbing off trail on the steep granite slabs. I was able to use the flat toe part of the boot to to support myself while standing on small cracks in the rock like I was wearing a climbing shoe. It was awesome! I felt like a kid at the playground! Terrain was mostly dry, but there were a couple wet spots that the Megagrip sole did perform well on. Temperature was in the low 70 ’ sF. The only negative I have about the boot, is that it does not breathe well. My feet did sweat considerably wearing a lightweight synthetic sock. Both days I took my shoes and socks off at the summit and removed the Ortholite insoles to dry for a half hour in the sun and wind. The inside of the boots didn ’ t fully dry out. The Ortholight insole mostly dried, because they are very thin. Inersoles could be a little thicker to provide more cushioning, but overall my feet felt good at the end of both hikes. These are aggressive trails for breaking in new shoes, but they felt pretty good out of the box, so I went for it. I think these boots will be best for shoulder season hikes and hikes taking you above tree line. Can ’ t wait to take them to Mount Washington NH!

[ When you find a pair that fits you as if it was made for you. You stick with them. Usually, brands tweak things over the years so when you need a new paired, you ’ re screwed! These are a classic. The first pair I bought myself in 2014, side by side with their replacement that just arrived today. Pulled them out of the box and it was like meeting an old friend that hasn ’ t changed a bit. The fit and feel, perfection. Now, I literally hiked the soles off of the old pair. The toes cracked. Laces frayed but original. Should I have replaced them awhile ago- I did with the charcoal version. But kept these in my closet as a remembrance of my first pair of hikers that took me through the PCT AT. Very spacious without being oversized. This is my first wide toebox shoe and it did feel a bit too large at first. However, after putting on other sneakers, I felt my toes constrict in the sneaker and craved the extra space. The Jasper Suede has become my new favorite, casual shoe. The cushioning is incredibly comfortable as well and paired with the wide toebox, the comfort is unmatched. I 've also received many compliments. [ This is my second pair of Oboz sawtooth low. I tried the waterproof version first but it was very difficult to wear as it wasn ’ t exactly waterproof and it did not breathe. This pair is such a relief. The outsole wears well, no problems. I have wide feet, the wide fits, with laces loosened, it ’s not an extra wide fit.

[ Purchased these boots about a month ago and have clocked about 80 miles on them. The boot fells great, provides great stability and grip but not too much grip. Most of my hiking in on packed soil with lots of exposed roots. I typically wear a normal width but a wide was required for this one. Only time will tell about the long term durability but great so far.

I have fairly narrow feet and these fit perfectly and are very comfortable. You ca n't even tell they have a steel toe. My only complaint is the top lace grommet. It has a different type of hook so it is a little difficult to get the lace in it when it is pulled out. I still rate this as Excellent though.

I wore them for a year at a job where I did n't have to stand all day, and recently switched to a job where standing for 12 hours was part of the job. I had to purchase shoes from the workplace there because they require new shoes due to food service related material, and they were sneakers, which after 12 hours, I was very fatigued and terrible foot pain. [ I spent a couple of weekends in these. I bought them so I am able to drive and hike in them but also to be able to put them on and take them off easier when compared with hiking boots. So far they performed excellently. I am also very pleased by them being breathable and keeping my feet cool despite hiking in hot weather. They seem rather roomy and I have wide feet. I was concerned that I may get blisters but in the end I was very comfortable after a 3 mile hike in sandy soil. I would definitely buy them again.

[ This is a good shoe. The only problem that I 'm having is the tongue of the shoe kind of digs into the top of my foot and was a little uncomfortable in the beginning. Bought these hiking boots for a weeklong trip to Arizona where I would be hiking nearly non- stop. These boots are amazing, extremely grippy even on slick wet rock and super comfortable. I wore these into Havasu Canyon which is around 40 miles over 4 days, with the help of moleskin I walked out of there with 0 blisters. I ’ m a size 12 through and through, but these in the same size were tight. The toe box is smaller than normal. Also you need to take into account feet swelling and perhaps thicker socks. I wore these for the first time all day hiking around Grand Cyn Village. I was surprised there was no uncomfortable rubbing or stiffness which is very common with new hiking shoes. I was very impressed!

Took my Merrells to a winter trip to Amsterdam, Netherlands, when it was raining heavily, was windy, and cold. The sneakers showed it best performance- one week walking a lot in the city, my feet were dry, warm, comfy( and my knees were comfy too- love the sneaker's bouncy soil!), and never slipped, even on wet cobble stones. I have never loved a pair of boots more. Comfortable. Stylish. Rugged. Did I say comfortable? I had a young man tell me `` Those boots are freaking awesome. '' I am ordering another pair just to have them on hand for when these go. I love everything about them including the laces. I cleaned and protected the boots with fluid film lanolin oil. Darkened them up a bit but in my opinion it is the best stuff for leather. Thank you Timberland for big and wide sizes.
