I was part of a Montana hiking group and Merrill was always their first choice, so I was delighted to get them for him. My only objection is that we had very poor customer service. Where did I take my new shoes? First trip is to Portugal, including beaches, cobblestone streets, hiking on gravel and stone paths. And yes, a bit of water to test the waterproof claim. Warm and dry- but not too warm. They breathe better than past waterproof shoes( including from Merrell) I have had. Fine for wearing all day in the sun. I love Merrell Moab ’s, wear them every day and have 5 pair. But as hot as this summer has been, I wanted a pair of lighter weight shoes. I started with Merrell styles, but had no luck getting a good fit for my problem feet—a neuroma and plantar fasciitis on one foot and a bunion on the other. I also tried styles from all the highly rated shoes for walking, including those with gel insoles. They all bothered my neuroma, and the gels were so bouncy they made me feel a little unsteady on my feet. So I went back to Merrell and tried the speed solo, ordered up a half size, and finally found my fit! The shoes seemed narrow at first, but after wearing them a couple of times, they ’ re as comfortable as my Moab ’s.

I 've only wore these a few times but so far I really like them. I may have got a half size too big but they are spacious, flat and proivide lots of room for my toes. The traction on the bottom feels really good as well. I had ordered the low top to see if they would replace my trail glove but unfortunately those ones seem to have a much higher arch support than these mids. These ones are much more neutral. So if you are like me and want a more barefoot feel then these may work even if the low ankle wrapts did not feel good for you. I wear a 10 in some of their shoes and I got a 10. 5 in these.

A lot of the comments say it ’s hard to get the shoe on, so much so they have the shoe a low rating …I ’ m not even sure what that means. They ’ re not loose slip ons like crocs, they require you to like put in a little effort to get them on but I got them on without untying the original ties. The heel is sturdy enough that it didn ’ t collapse under my own heel when I slid it in, which is nice. The first like 10- 15 steps squeaked a little but it very quickly went away.

I took these on my rafting trip down the GRAND CANYON. I brought them for the side hikes from the river. Which are usually washes with some water crossings. These shoes did so well! They have incredible traction for climbing over big rocks in dry washes, or on slick ledges. The traction is incredible! They were comfortable right off the go and my custom orthotics fit in then since they have a removable foot bed. I loved these boots on the trip! Completely waterproof over the foot but if water gets up to the mid part where the laces are water does come in. I am going to look for a goretex hiking gater for that.

These shoes are AMAZING! I ordered a size 7 and they fit perfectly. My feet are exactly a size 6. 5, so sizing up was a good idea. I hiked a 1. 0+ mile trail in the White River National Forest in the Elk Mountains with these shoes on. They can handle any terrain! I hiked through rough dirt, rocks, and even snow. My feet felt fine after the hike. My only complaint about the shoes is that they ’ re a little hot, but it ’s great when the weather is cold.

OBSESSED is an understatement for these shoes! I absolutely love these boots, they are so comfortable. I got them for a few hiking trips I had coming up and they did not disappoint. No breaking in necessary ready to wear right out of the box. My old Merrill ’s were bulky and heavy but these are so comfortable and light. Did an 8 to 10 mile hike in them back to back no problem. Definitely recommend will not disappoint. Water proof, kept my feet dry during the rainy season hikes I did. Also the color is super cute, I got the grey ones and they matched with everything.

I love these Merrells. They are sturdy, stable and feel like a running shoe. This is my 3rd pair. I have these also in a wide and is a low quarter version. I use them for hiking, dog walking in the rain and snow and walking around our land. I have used them in pouring rain and my feet stayed dry. I dont think they are sturdy enough for heavy backpacking but for a light day pack, no problem. Size wise I usually wear a 9. 5 in running and training shoes and I ordered a 10 in these and they were good. I prefer the wide version though as it gives me just a bit more toe box room, not necessarily extra width but roomier. I am hoping these will break in enough to be as comfortable as the wider version. But a great comfortable boot overall.

I have had 3 pairs of the Encore Ice 5 over the years, and wear them daily. I keep one pair is for the house as my slippers, and another for short errands. My feet run cold and these are the one shoe with adequate support( unlike Uggs) that keep my feet toasty. The Merrell Wrapt has quickly become my absolute favorite for tackling the challenging terrain of Maine's rocky beaches. From the moment I slipped them on, the comfort was undeniable. They truly live up to the Merrell reputation for providing a barefoot- like feel without sacrificing protection. What truly sets these shoes apart for me is the wonderful grip. Those slippery, seaweed- covered rocks and jagged stones on the Maine coastline are no match for the Wrapt's outsole. I 've felt incredibly secure and confident navigating uneven surfaces, which is a huge relief when you 're trying to enjoy the scenery without constantly worrying about your footing. They perform admirably on all sorts of challenging terrain, not just the beach, proving their versatility. The design is also quite appealing – a stylish blend of casual and rugged that works well for outdoor adventures and everyday wear. The wide toe box is a major plus, allowing my toes to splay naturally and comfortably, even after long walks. My only, albeit significant, wish is that Merrell would release a Gore- Tex low version of the Wrapt. While the existing versions handle some dampness, the constant spray and occasional submersion on a rocky beach mean that truly waterproof, breathable protection would elevate these shoes to legendary status for coastal exploration. The mid- cut waterproof version exists, but a low- cut option with Gore- Tex would be the absolute perfect combination of comfort, grip, and weather protection. Despite this one desire, the Merrell Wrapt is a fantastic shoe that I highly recommend for anyone seeking exceptional comfort and reliable grip, especially if you spend time on uneven or rocky terrain. They 've made my Maine beach walks infinitely more enjoyable!

These come out the box with a good insole and minimal break in time, I ’ ve had some 14- 18 hour days on them and while my feet are tired and fatigued at the end of the day, they don ’ t hurt. They also provide great ankle support. I ’ ve worn it hiking, inside of shoothouse training, and during hog hunts and it ’s been a very reliable sturdy shoe for me. While it may be labeled “ waterproof ” I wouldn ’ t walk through deep water or soak them for hours on end and expect perfectly dry feet, it ’s unrealistic and not what it ’s built for in my opinion, it will keep them dry in rain or more shallow ankle deep water, or walking through wet fields. However nothing is perfect, if your looking for something to keep your feet from sweating this isn ’ t it, with them being the waterproof version your feet are going to sweat pretty good, I knew this going into it and therefor it didn ’ t bother me. But I would recommend a different version if you want a nice breathable shoe. The other thing I would change is how thick the tongue is, it doesn ’ t really rub or create hot spots or sit weird it ’s just a personal preference thing for me.

I bought these for a recent trip to Banff, Canada and they were amazing. They arrived only a few days before the trip so I was worried I would have issues with breaking them in but no problems! We did an 11 mile hike the second day of wearing them and I only got one tiny blister( which let ’s be honest, probably would have happened anyway). These are super comfortable and very lightweight for a mid hiking shoe. The outer is only slightly tougher than a normal running shoe, but waterproof. Of course the outsole is much grippier.
